Aircraft Controller.

#1
Hi,
I want to join the Royal Navy as an Aircraft Controller and am currently going through the application process (Have my selection interview soon). Are there any people who are one or joining as one? I have found as much information i can about it and want to know what other people think... preferably people who are Aircraft Controllers. Are there any specialist interviews or tests for the branch?

Thanks for any answers!

(I'm not too sure if this is posted in the right area....)

1. Yes. I am one. The chosen one in fact.

2. Yes. You have to pass an aptitude based selection in the form of a 2 week grading at Yeovilton. Before you even get through the door though you will also have to score highly at RT.

3. It's about to become very light at the top of the branch so the future is looking good for young thrusters. Career prospects are excellent.

4. No, I will not groom you. If I do that again they'll send me back to Cornwall.

5. Cornwall is poo.

Do they still go to Shawbury to experience how the crabs live in their holiday camps?

If you choose to attend Joint Air Traffic Control Course to become a proper Air Tragic type yes. Shawbury rules, it has the greatest SRs mess barman in the universe. Good old Tony.

I was merely an AB. But they still waited on us, which was nice.

Sadly the NATAC course for the ABs is now held at Yeovilton rather than Shawbury so has lost absolutely all of it's allure. One of the best weeks I've ever had in the RN that was.
