  1. Hi all,

Just been trawling through the roles part of the RN site and noticed the age limit for WAFUs has sneakily gone up to 34.. it was 29 before.. Yay :)

  3. Any reason for this? Didn't think there was a shortage of people wanting to be AETs. Glad I'm not so near the limit now!

The reason the age was reduced from age 36 to 30 a few years back was to ensure there were sufficient technicians in the supervisory role at the rate of CPO to complete two frontline drafts before contract end.

It was eventually realised that the average person only serves six years, so it was rather pointless age-capping. Why it has only reverted to age 34 instead of 36, like most other branches, is in the realms of string theory & wormholes.

Funny old thing, we're short of engineering technicians at senior rate level too.

  5. Guess that's why a mate of mine who's a CPO in the FAA just got a 5 year extension ;)
