  1. Hey

Im just asking advice regarding on what trade/specialisationwould enable me to go on the frontline (land based or sea based) but not to just be a normal grunt. Im now about to complete a degree in leadership in public services however i want a hands on job, not a pencil pusher, so im open to rating level trades/specialisation.

Ive spoken to a few ex navy/marines and the general consesus is medical technician and then opt for the all arms commando course, and if i wanted to go further then to apply for sbs.

What other trades/specialisations would you guys suggest regarding the specifications ive listed (frontline, hands on, not just a basic marine)
  2. Infantry. Next question.

  6. Don't think my opening post came across in the right way.

When i mentioned pen pusher i was referring to the fact that most of what i have been told by ex navy/marines about officer trades/specialisations is that they spend most of the time doing admin work.

When i mentioned that i didn't want to be just a marine, i meant that i wanted to focus on a specialist trade then do the aacc so that i could do the specialist trade and have the combat element.

I can't find much online about what trades typically do the aacc other than medics
  7. Join the Army. They train to kill people - hands on. You could even be a VM too, (trade).

As a marine you will specialise in a trade.
  9. Based on what experience?

  11. Whilst there are trades in the Marines such as VM, chef etc doesn't mean that you will get a trade as you have stated. Being a rifleman or heavy weapons etc hardly qualify's as a "trade" does it.

Just putting it out there for the OP.
  13. Until this thread is moved to somewhere more suitable, I shall refrain from saying what I should say to this sock puppet.
I could help, however as I was only ever "Just a marine" (I think you'll find we have Royal Marines, and have done for some time.) I doubt I'd be able to provide you with the info your after. You Graduate of playing services.

Have you rung the number for registering your interest in applying?

Wait until you have taken the RT before making any firm plans in your head.
  15. From the now errant OP: "a degree in leadership in public services" W T F ?!?!
  16. I think you need to sit down and find out what training is involved in becoming 'just' a Royal Marine and in what sequence it is carried out. Perhaps you might even surprise yourself regarding the AACC 8-O
  17. STC would seem to be the way ahead for a young thruster like you. Use the search function. It's all there for you.
