The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Good evening

I am thinking about joining the royal marines or the royal navy. But i am unsure which one is best for me. I wont to do something that when i tell my family and friends they go wow.Can anyone help me?

  3. Welcome to Rum Ration, Simon.

How old are you, if I may ask?
  4. i have just turned 22. i have done private security work in and a round dubi the money is great but i wont to do something more exciting
  5. Do you have any qualifications, GCSEs etc?
  6. Hi Simon,

Although the branch waiting times are listed as a sticky at the top of this forum, you'll find the "specialist" branches such as SBS, recon and STC branch aren't listed due to their "specialist" nature. If you see what I mean.

However, waiting times tend to be short due to both the high failure rate and the continued demand for their expertise.

As I say, there is no direct entry as such, but you really need to go to the Armed Forces Careers Office (AFCO) and enquire directly about available roles in special forces to get an idea of what is open to you.

Best of luck in what you decide.
  7. Just looked at STC branch it looks great, do i get better pay for that and would i get my green hat as well thanks do i go to the recruiting office how long is the waiting list
  8. i have got all gcse`s A`s but i dont wont to be sat at a desk. i might try and get to my recrutment office this week

  10. If you ring them up in advance, you can ask to sit in on their Introductory Presentation. Most AFCOs do them on a weekly basis.

Which part of the country do you live in, roughly? I'll post up the link to your nearest AFCO so that you can call them.
