Advice needed after DUDT

Without wanting to go too far into detail, I'm one of quite a few people who were discharged DUDT at Raleigh and I'm in need of some advice from anyone in the know. A mistake was made after completing training (no drugs/anything illegal) and those of us who had the integrity to admit to it was told we'd be receiving a tier 2 warning but much to everyone's surprise, including our DI's, it came back that we were instead being recommended for discharge.

I accept my role in the event and am not wishing to argue over the merit of the punishment, having already done that with people as high a Lt Cdr unable to believe the severity of our punishment, it doesn't really serve a purpose now that it's done.

Now, I immediately went into my local AFCO to apply for the RAF and explained the situation fully, they were more than happy to get the ball rolling and I'm now at the stage where I should have gotten an offer of service. However, there has been a slight snag where they are technically not allowed to do so for 2 years due to my discharge code and have requested to various departments in the RN to alter my code so I can join. They are fully aware of the entire situation surrounding the discharge and don't believe its an issue on their end but at them moment their hands are tied.

My question is, can I do anything about this at all? The RAF have tried their best and seemingly exhausted all of their options but are there any options available from a naval point of view?

To be honest why should the Navy spend time sorting stuff out for the RAF? This is not my usually anti crab rant but why would they expend energy for little or no benefit to the RN?

Generally those DUDT from the Naval Service will have been given the option to appeal the decision at the point of discharge. They also sign a declaration stating they agree with the category of discharge & have no complaints about the category of discharge or the way it was handled. If it was a positive CDT, for example, no-one is going to tell porkies and change the category of discharge to aid future employment prospects.

Most DUDT's carry a rejoin time caveat of one, two or three years - if the discharge category does not preclude further service. You can appeal the length of the time caveat if you can produce evidence of improvement & reform (employment references, etc) and all you need do is write to the training commander who will usually have already written to the individual declaring the category of discharge, any time caveats and the method of appeal.
