Admiral: 'Front line women are huge success'

Whatever. For the many women serving in combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan, fn is demeaning their contribution to our nations security. There have been female pilots, gunners (artillery) and combat engineers in the army for over 10 years. Get over youself . It is quite clear to me that you are sexually frustrated, all that wanking over porn not doing it for you? Haha.

Has one young wren AB Sonar once told me on a previous fast grey raider I had the pleasure to serve on during the late 90's 'your entitled to an opinion about wrens at sea has you've served before we went to sea its the sproggs who joined up after me and tell me I have no place being here I can't stand, what would they know about the old days? Quite well put I thought and pretty much sums it all up for me.

Im not saying i agree with it because i don't really have an opinion on the matter, but, if guys like FN don't agree with women serving together with men at sea then it is entirely their opinion and they should be free to express it.

Read the thread. No one is challenging FN's freedom to express his opinion about women at sea. People are challenging his expressed contempt for British servicewomen, particularly in the week a woman soldier was killed on operations. They are also challenging the way he persists in casting doubt on the performance of women in action despite all the evidence to the contrary.

By his own admission, FN has never served with women at sea and has never been in action himself. Unlike those who have contributed their positive views, he speaks from a position of supreme ignorance. When challenged, he has been unable to form any valid argument or provide a single shred of factual evidence to back up his bigoted assertions. I don't mind a bite but not when it involves pouring scorn on service people who, even now, are fighting and dying for our country.

FN - For the fifth time of asking, why specifically should women sailors need "...to prove themselves in action" when all the evidence demonstrates that women from all three Services have acquitted themselves with credit during recent operations?

Hmmm…

Been having this conversation for many years. Women started going to sea in the MN back in the 70's. Wasn't a great success across all branches but it worked out OK in the end.

Donk shop? Not a such a good idea, hot, heavy and unpleasant place to be. Coped OK when things were smooth, but when you had to work till you dropped in 100+ degree heat for 20+ hours to fix a buggered bearing not so well. High level physical endurance is not their thing. Modern ships are much more user friendly than the old steam jobs though.

Greenies and Navigation? No probs.

One issue that even then was a question that taxed minds. There's a fiire in the engine room… it's going to be hard enough dogging down the hatch when blokes are possibly still alive in there, but could you be hard hearted enough to do it with women?

Doubt if I could, like most of us, I was naturally somewhat protective of the women, it's basic human nature. Ditto injuries, bad enough seeing badly burned and/or torn up blokes, don't know if I'd have wanted to see women in the same state.

NG, for the 5th time I am not pouring scorn on those who are in combat if you knew my circumstances you would know why I would never do that. Also if you wish to quote me please do make an effort to be accurate. I know what your game is; it’s a transparent attempt to rally the troops against me by making me out to be a thoroughly nasty chap who has no respect for our troops, shame.

Whenever you watch any programme about our troops on the front line you do not see whining ‘warship’ wimps who in their comparative safety seem to have forgotten all about those being killed at the sharp end. Of course this does not apply to the combat flyboys.

What does this have to do with the topic? As for rallying the troops I think most people can read and have formed there own opinions on your opinions.

Looking at the standard of some of the material on this site I doubt that very much.

There are always those who have to go with the in- crowd and follow what seems to be the mainstream of opinion.

Then of course we have the nasty little tykes who just like ganging up on folks.

I think I can hear a song coming on!

"Nobody likes me, everybody hates me,
Think I'll go eat worms.
Big fat juicy ones, Eensie weensy squeensy ones,
See how they wiggle and squirm.

Chomp off their heads and squeeze out the juice
And throw their tails away
Nobody knows how I survive
On worms three times a day."

:sign5: Stop feeling sorry for yourself on an INTERNET programme. You would think the gang of big bad bullies are waiting for you at the start menu.
