GMTV this morning. A zoo has been accused of 'heightism' after advertising for a new giraffe keeper who has to be over 6' 2" tall. Blackpool Zoo, one of the top attractions in Lancashire, is causing a storm with its new post for a zoo keeper to look after its giraffes. The position is only open to people 6' 2" and over, causing outrage amongst many and accusations of "heightism". Blackpool Zoo, however, has defended its actions by saying that applicants need to be tall because they will be based in the giraffe enclosure and need to feed the animals.
