43% of RAF trainee pilots will lose their jobs

Crab Ruperts on the dole? My heart bleeds purple custard for those twunts.

It won't when the only recourse for civilian airlines is to 'aquire' pilots from abroad; all trained of course to the highest standards. Don't think this is a UK only problem either as it has happened already in Australia and is heading your way soon! In fact it will be landing at an airport near you NOW!
Be scared, be very scared!

I am however intigrued by the idea held by some RRs that RAF officers are scions of the landed gentry.

I too have trouble getting my head around this concept. Anyone who has ever had the misfortune to dine at an RAF mess will attest to this.

Most RAF Officers I've met have decidedly council names like Kevin and Ian and a sport an impressive range of man made fibre clothing. To think that a member of the upper class would choose a career that involves operating machinery is ludicrous.

Everyone knows the correct way for a chap to be transported into battle is astride a horse or atop a tank driven by one's man.

Fcuk 'em. Lost all respect for those tossers whilst having to yomp back to my pit due to a 'no flying day' for some sodding reason being declared only to have a crab air helo fly overhead full of waafs on a jolly.

I wouldn't give crab air the steam off my sh1t.

NZ-B,

Yer but, no but, yer ..... what happens when Royal calls for an immediate air strike and is told there's no-one to fly the planes (assuming there are planes to fly).
Don't know about anyone else, but I think spending billions on something that won't happen (Trident) while cutting the things that are actually happening (Afghanistan and who knows where next) is a mistake.

If the politicians had had there way in the 70's, the Falklands would be Argentinian today, Basra would have been a UK forces bloodbath, the Kurds would have been wiped out, and there would be no M&AW troops.
Suppose we could always send the Guards.
