Well, there are those who might say that all submarines are horrible science! However, I must object strongly to the comment - 'Families can find out just how smelly submariners were' - as if............

Submariners seldom cheat, and NEVER lie!

Why is it acceptable to cry at a wedding but not to laugh at a funeral?

Age and treachery will always overcome youth and fitness!

I can understand your objection. The quote should of course be "Families can find out just how smelly submariners are"

There's nothing horrible about going home smelling of "Eau du boat".

Came in handy when you joined the dinner queue though, surprising how some people lost their appetite after a whiff of the exotic aroma of diesel, armpit, socks and unwashed arse

Had a major diesel excursion when we were in Chatham, victualled in Pembroke. Everyone was ankle deep in diesel whilst mopping it up. It was Pembrokes' bop night and as we didn't get away until late it was straight on with the civvy's and on to the bop. The aroma was certainly good for clearing a path to the bar but the ladies didn't seem interested in us for some reason.
