being a deeps myself i should never think that wrens if there is such a thing now (AKA ratings) would ever serve in the secret service and if they ever would, or COULD, i think that a long serving member of the senior service like myself, might just say goodbye to the andrew.
any objections to my ratist behaviour please post up! if not be calmed by the influence of the steely submariner wading inSubmariners do it deeper !!!!!!

I will fully accept your comments as being a boater my DC experience was very limited and mainly obtained from books on WWII. It was my opinion how ever ill informed which I will now have to reassess.

Yes I agree, therefore your argument is that decisions should be based on sound and not insufficient data?

This is hardly anecdotal evidence but is straight from the horses mouth so as to speak. Perhaps we might have a serving member of these particular countries read this thread and make appropriate comment?

Re: WRNS on submarines?
Do females want to serve on nuclear submarines or do they want the right to serve on nuclear submarines just for the hell of it?
The 'no touching policy' would have to be modified considerably. Where on a boat could you be (apart from in a bunk, and don't state the obvious about 'no room for two unless procreating the species') reasonably distanced from a member of the opposite sex. Certainly not in any passageways or in any ops rooms where you've usually got your mates big fat arse shoved in your face as he changes positions on sets. He can't go round or under it has to be over! No pun or inuendo intended! The submarine is at sixty feet....'report the state of the conning tower upper lid'.........'IT'S STILL THERE'....heard many moons ago in the control room on Swiftsure at diving stations

Regardless of the issues relating to Air quality/Nuclear affect on the foetus shouldn't we look at the issues of being able to get the female ashore if it is discovered that she is pregnant whilst on patrol.
Here's one for you: A female deploys on a routine Bomber patrol only to discover that she is pregant after sailing. She could easily be in the region of four to six weeks pregnant. Say the bomber patrol is 3 months she could be over four months pregnant by the time she gets back. Although there is a doc onboard, is it really ethical to have her wait for specialist medical checks?
As we all know, there is no way that a bomber will break surface mid-patrol.

And how about you refrain from fence sitting and state your personal opinion on the subject stating your reasons for holding said thoughts exactly as I have done?

...maybe Witsend is not convince either way, as the evidence to the contrary is not entirely persuasive? Perhaps if you provided the information he has requested he could make up his own mind and you would be seen to be attempting to convince him of your argument, thus winning him over and getting him on your side?

He may then have an informed opinion and comment appropriately. The fact that I have previously written an essay on this subject is irrelevant. My personal conclusions to this work were derived from all of the above documents of which anyone has access to. It is my opinion that I can find no logical reason to bar women from service in Royal Navy submarines. I suggest that Witsend makes the time and effort to research the subject as I have done.
