How do I do ......? Problems using the site software?
If you are having problems whilst you are using the site, or if you want to know how to do something different but don't know how, this is the place to ask!
Feel free to ask anything - the only stupid question is the one you don't ask!

What does the big ? symbol mean on the forum page?
Only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not entirely sure about the universe.

le_jaq,
I do not see any ? symbol on the forum page. Can you provide any more information? Is it in the forum index page? If so, where (roughly) on the page does it appear (top let/top right etc)

Ghost,
In the RMR/RNR forum the top topic Drill Nights v Training Weekends has the large ? in a yellow circle next to it.
I'm quite prepared to look silly here, but would rather do that for a minute than remain in ignorance for the rest of my life!

Try it for yourself - look in the forum index and click on New Post at the top left - this is what you will see...

Silly question but - how do I send (rather than create) a Private Message? When I create a PM (like as in ARRSE), and press the "Post" button (which, I assume is the equivalent of "Send"), the message goes into my Outbox, where it has remained for the last 2 days.
Assuming that "Outbox" means 'waiting to be sent', how the hell does it ... er.... actually get sent (ie and, I assume, then moved to the Sentbox)?!
Lots of assumptions there - sorry."Antiquis temporibus, nati tibi similes in rupibus ventosissimis exponebantur ad necem"

It's not a silly question. There is a rational explanation!

You will therefore know when the message has been delivered (perhaps a more appropriate name for the boxes would be Pending (Outbox) and Delivered (Sent Box).
The reason it has been sat in your outbox for 2 days, therefore, is that whoever you have sent the pm to has not opened it yet.

Just noticed the following on the Index page:

Not sure why it is still showing that I have a new message. I've re-read the few that I have had on this site to see if it clears but so far no joy.
Not particularly important in the grand scheme of things but thought I would point it out anyway. The key thing to remember is that the flip-side of efficiency is not inefficiency - it is reserve capacity!
