I understand where you are coming from. For yonks the RFA's recruitment website had a photo of some very unsafe rope work ........supporting its professionalism. WTF?

Foot acquired, in your own time, go on.

    Ratings:- Tips for interview

Interviews will be at HMNB Portsmouth, it depends how many candidates they are looking for but it will enough to fill a course ,plus reserves as people invariably drop out of the process.

Look smart wear a shirt and tie and a suit, a cheep one from Tesco's will be fine. People turning up in rag order don't get through the process. (jeans and flip flops) your dress says a lot up about you.

Interviews last about 45 mins, read up on the role of the RFA, where it's ships are, this in general and you can find out by reading Navy News, Gunline and RN website. Read up on the ships and their role, what do they do. e.g Diligence, The Bay Boats etc, What weapons they carry, number of crew.

Read up on RASing (Replenishment at Sea) core business for the Deckies. you may be shown a picture and be asked whats going on, good to be able to name the ships etc.

Think of some examples on teamwork you will be asked about that for sure and social skills, how you get on with people. At the end they will tell you about the course at Raleigh and may even give you the course dates.

Places will go to the people who have scored the highest, so just by looking smart and making an effort you can score an esay couple of points.

There are likely to be two people on the board an RFA HR person and a CPO or Officer from the course your going to be on. Get there in good time, try and relax, they want the best answers and are not there to catch you out, they may prompt a bit.

That's about it really. Good luck
