Leaving the RN and join the RFA

    has anyone done this...
a mate at work who is a POCIS(sm) is considering leaving the RN and fancies a bash at the RFA.....he is getting tired of the intense pressure and many jobs placed on a SCR on a SM........

how would that work as if he goes for it, and does it, something I would like to consider..

would he have to start at the bottom, even though he would be very qualified to do a job higher than a "AB" as such..?

    just curious etc..

    cheers

lots leave the RN and join the RFA although at the minute we have a 10% manpower reduction coming up. The comms are changing to CIS and all they seem to do is keep the radio room warm, so imagine it wont be as intense as a sub. but generally you start at the bottom but there may be the option to go in as an officer (Comms Officer) start on more money, ie dont start at the bottom (CR2/CIS2). try Royal Fleet Auxiliary Unofficial site - Toys Out Of The Pram and ask them a question or two.

No it isn't. The forum isn't active /available but I have reason to believe that's because the moderator is busy (doing his day job) and the poster who it is thought was a very helpful recruiter has long since left the Service.

The rest of the site is active. So try not to be too helpful molgogger and don't spam the boards with gash info.
