Used back in the day. Waaayyy back in the day.
I heard it used by some real old hands in my youth, but it gave way to Weekenders and Extenders (which is technically a Friday While)

29-03-12, 06:19 #22I've heard this but not while in the mob. Its used in Yorkshire instead of 'until'. It took me some time to work out what my staff were on about when they would say 'Wait while Monday'.
Its not only grim, its odd up north!
29-03-12, 07:42 #23As Levers said it's an old one. Back to WW1 days, judging by the age of books I have seen it used in.
Hazard a guess its a shortening of 'Friday while Monday' ,look at dapperduns post above.Admiral of the Fleet Viscount Cunningham talking of RN Engine Room Artificers,"They were masters of improvisation and kings amongst men"

Was certainly in use by the older hands in Pompey Division during the fifties. Bear in mind that the Chiefs and POs that were my bosses then had joined mainly in the early thirties!
