    Hydrographic and meteorology officer

    Hi everyone.

I am about to go into my last year at university where I am reading for a BSc in Geography. I am interested in joining the navy as a HM officer and I was just hoping someone could give me a bit of clarity on the timescales and structure of the training involved. As I understand, I would firstly train as a WO before specialising? It would be a great help if someone could give me an idea of; where I would be; what I would be doing; and how long it would take to climb the ladder in this branch! Also, if you follow the HM branch, are you limited to how high up you can climb?

I plan to go speak to someone at an AFCO or on the phone soon but thought I would see what I could find out here first. Cheers for any help that you can give!
