What sort of timeframe are you looking at now from sending all the initial application paperwork to the ACLO to getting a testing date, pjft, medical and interview etc. Its been a while since I sent my stuff in and its starting to become bloody annoying.

When I first asked about joining and signed all the relevant paper work, my recruit test was about a month after that, then my interview was about 3 weeks later. I never went through any medical or pjft sort of stuff..

A fine figure of a man, square jaw, broad shoulders six pack like Arnolds in his youth, they liked the cut of your jib young man, no PJFT or medicals for you eh?

Remind me again.................are you joining as an Officer?

Not sure who you're asking there, so I'll just say on my part, yeah I'm trying. I was knocked back at the sift interview though, but won't give up yet as all I need to do is build on my leadership qualities.

Join the Sea Cadets and work your way up, that should give you the Leadership that you require.

I won't lie, it's not exactly my cup of tea doing that.

I mentioned this organisation www.raleighinternational.org in a previous post.

What do you reckon to that?

Are you really, really asking me for a serious reply?

If you really think that you are Officer material, then you should not be on here, you should think for yourself and go and do things.

I tend to look on potential Officers as having a little more CDF, don`t destroy that view please.

They are a very good organisation, I haven't dealt with them myself, but know of many who have, and have lots of good things to say about it.

However, without exactly pissing on your fire, I seem to remember it takes a while to get the ball rolling with those guys, and did you not mention that your re sit interview is in about 3 months time? Will there be enough time to sort something with Raleigh, or would you rather look at something more local (i'm not saying anything less worthwhile, but perhaps more achievable in the timeframe you have?)?

    Just a wee thought.

I'm pretty sure in terms of going and doing things, asking for a simple opinion on the thing I am going to go and do, is pretty much all I can go and do at this time of night.

And anyway I've already started planning how I'm gonna raise 3 grand for this Raleigh Organisation, so stop being so judgemental about my lack of ability to go and do things.

You're the only one destroying your view of how officers are becoming, because you assume every newbie officer wannabe on this website is a little peanut who still needs his hand holding.

Actually I take that back. That Gurpreet who said she spilt ink on one of her AIB forms and didn't know what to do, that's a worrying sign. But I won't be tarred with that brush. Asking for advice from this website is exactly the same as asking for advice off a friend, apart from the answers are generally more reliable here and tailored by people in the know, so I don't see the problem with using what's a available to get the best info and advice going.

I'm gonna tell the ACLO to hold back my interview date, or if the time scale gets too long, tell him I'll reapply later, because this is something I really want to do. Or, if my fundraising gets well underway in the next three months, that'll give me a good amount to talk about in terms of organisation and planning, which should help tick a few boxes already.
