Funny that, I was recently on an acquaint and most of the warfarey's were wishing they had gone logistics
Really? What were their reasons? Aside from the appeal of becoming a barrister (I studied law) there wasn't much else in Logs for me - the shore based roles look pretty dull and the progression seems quite limited unless you go down that route. At the POC one of the YOs said the legal route has been opened up to other branches now anyway.

Thanks LS, I'm putting in every effort to make sure I get top marks regardless, it was more a curiosity.

I did my Medical on 10th December and Fitness on 18th - was held up over Christmas but did my sift on 12th Jan - heard from AIB around 6 weeks later to confirm they'd rec'd my application and were assessing eligibility etc but then nothing until I chased it - only to find they weren't recruiting for female Logs, hence the warfare. My ACLO confirmed with AIB after the acquaint that I wanted to go for warfare so expecting to hear from them in a couple of weeks

Hi all, haven't been on the site for a while. I passed my FATs at the beginning of March and am going to AIB on May 23rd, if anyone else will be there at the same time get in touch!

    Best of luck to everyone.

We on here are a severe minority though given each intake (Jan, April, Sept) can be up to 140 candidates at a time.

Also IF I remember right the intake ratios depend strongly on the branch staffing needs at the current time.

Warfare though I think is the biggest recruiter though I don't think warfare candidates get a joining bonus unlike engineers (£12K in lieu of DTUS), trauma nursing officers (£20K...still not enough to make me want to be a nurse though), however their career path might make up for it, (tongue firmly stuck in cheek)

Actually since I am here I may as well get some advice, I will ask at my pre-AIB brief too but it can't hurt to ask twice

I know about the "Would you be prepared to serve on a submarine if required" question we will be asked, and at my sift the ACLO said to have a think about it before I see him again. But since I am applying for FAA what are the chances of a FAA officer ever being required to serve on a submarine? The only reason I could concieve would be in the interests of inter-branch understanding, but then there isn't much room for non-essential people on a sub.

Yeah, apart from IS-Potential who's going in for IS. Lonestar, myself and Comm. are all X(SM). Putider is X(GS), I think, correct me if I'm wrong.

Nice of you to suggest that the Warfare branch can, essentially, be daft as fcuk and still get in. Always appeals to our sense of vanity. Incidentally, for Logs, you have to score slightly higher than Warfare, so I guess that'd mean you'd have to aim for slightly higher than stupid.

I thought that Warfare was now higher than Logs, in terms of score required...?

Actually an entirely redundant question, as you just have to do your best anyway, and knowing which requires higher can only lead to willy waving.

Best answer is to just say "yes of course I would be", as it seems that is what they want to hear. Personally its not my first choice, but I would do it if I had to, though I would find it difficult to say no to an Astute class appointment. Though personal pref would be a T45 appointment, though a lot of people would like a T45 appt.

Ah, it's the old "I have a mate who..." problem.

Well, I've a mate going in for Logs, who talked to a serving officer, who said... uh... this is a shit dit.

Sure if you were in a FAA role then the chance of you serving on submarines would be minimal. However what happens if you fail part of the training, or you fail an aircrew medical, or something else happens meaning you are re-routed somewhere else. If the needs of the service dictate that may be on to submarines. The point of the question is to guage whether you have fully understood the commitment that you are required to serve anywhere in the world, even on submarines.

You really have no choice how to answer the question as a male candidate.
