    It will be a long time before we get to hear the full circumstances including navigational constraints, weather conditions, mechanical integrity, operational priorities etc. By the nature of their purpose, warships are expected to operate at the margins of the accepted safety envelopes.

    However, being struck on the starboard side does tend to point the finger at the hittee, rather than the hitter.
    Tribals - gun at both ends and wooden decks - can't beat it!
