The one's I recall, understandably not necessarily in the right order & I'm far too young to remember the tot, were: Charles & Diana wedding, Falklands victory, Birth of Prince William, Fergie & Andrews wedding (I think), Re-Commissioning of HMS Illustrious ('93) with Princess Margaret in attendance (also the last time I recall the pipe "One all round"), a few others, and erm Trafalgar 200, Queens Golden Jumbilee & thingy, the one a few weeks back. In 31 years service, I guess fewer than ten in total - it's no wonder I get all giggly when it does happen.

There is a sinister plot unfolding here.
You notice most of the fuckin splicers ordered in the last 40 years were coincidentally of course after the fuckin rum had gone.
    How fuckin nasty is that.
It's like offering you a meal as soon as the pantry is empty.

When I was a child I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child.
When I became a man I joined Rum Ration, it was a natural progression.
    But with swearing.

I'm reassured that there is an awareness of the difference between ' splice the mainbrace' (orders of HM) and 'up spirits' (pre 1970 daily highlight beloved of PSOFs)
Ah! Probably yes. I was Jane's Fighting Married Accompanied in Portugal at the time and the ROs in the Comcen across the Tagus probably kept it quiet from us hard-working golfers, footballers, athletes, barbeque indulging sunbathers just for a laugh. I would have if I'd been them.

Feb 1960 - standing on the jetty at Menton waiting for a boat - gun salute going off - what's all that about? Back on board - splicers for Prince Andrew.
Edmund Burke: 'Wars may be deferred .. but they cannot be wholly avoided .. to purchase present quiet, at the price of future security, is .. a cowardice of the most base and degrading nature."

Nelson: "You should hate a Frenchman as you do the devil".
