When will you people get it right and STOP the blanket bullshit tarring everyone with the same bloody brush.
I am a POMEM(L) and will go outside as a POMEM(L). I do not want to be a CMEM(L) any more because their is no incentive for me to do so, however, I digress. The fact remains that this so called "cross over" is NOT automatic for all. GET IT RIGHT

You may wish to stay a POMEM, but your billet will become a POET billet when the current SOC rate is end-dated, your branch will be the ET branch and any future training you do will make you into a POET.

Come 31 Dec 08 when the opportunity to transfer ends, it is unlikely you will have any advancement opportunities or decent jobs as these will all go to the ETs who need the experience and have the quals, and the RN will be looking at you to "fade away quietly".
Like I said, you may not like it, but it's going to happen - the only people referring to source branch rates will be yourselves. To the rest of the world, you will be a POET.Space Corps Directive #196156

Also, you said that ANY further training I do will turn me into a POET.
Rubbish.
When does DO's course change your branch? (That is the only "further training" I will do).
So,
Er,
RUBBISH!

Lamri, the only thing is to get into boats, they keep the real names going for much longer, when I left they were still calling the POMEM(L), POLTO despite the structure having been changed over 25 yeats before, and I suspect there are still POLTOs in boats today.

Guys, look i'm NOT just being argumentative here, honest!
I still have my branch badge on, I will still have it on in just over 3 years when I leave the mob. I have preserved rights like lots of older PO's.
I will not ever be a POET in any book. I will only get drafted to POMEM(L) billets, not POET(ME) ie POMEM ANY billets. I will remain a POMEM(L). Read the rules, I have

Lamri, I'm not saying your badge will be torn off - I know what the RNTMs say. Yes, you will still have your Pommie badges, but to the RN and the MOD, you will be considered an ET as the billets and opportunities will disappear after Dec 08.

TD you keep trying to make it sound like I just don't want to play ball.

But I will still be a POMEM(L)!!
I will only go into POMEM(L) billets (Doms/Controls etc) and will not be drafted to other billets (Clanky billets). So what has changed for me? Nothing! I'm still called a POMEM(L), I still wear the badge, I still get drafted to the same billets. Nothing has changed for me, nothing WILL change for me.
This is the same for POMEM(M)'s in my situation.
If you don't want to do what amounts to almost 7 years extra, then you won't be applying for the ET courses that have to be done. Seeing as I go outside in Oct 2010, There is no way I want to do these courses, henace I will remain a POMEM(L) in accordance with the rules. I am in a dead branch and have been since MEM(L)'s were got rid of and anyone in the ME department became eligible to be a POMEM(L) even without any experience in electrics or the training required. I am used to feckwits turning up wearing POMEM(L) badges not knowing what they are doing. This won't change a thing.

Flatback, I cant agree more. To all of the source branches yet again your senior officers have let you be idden over yet again. Things seem to be going too well with the source branch so lets dilute it. Guys vote the way myself and others have done I was a tiff and will always be a tiff, thats what an apprentiship/trade pay meant. Look up the dictionary definition of an Artificer and tell me one of these ET's meet the grade.
