Out of interest, does anyone know what the current NAMET requirement is for joining the mob...
Are you bringing any weapons?
Of course not.
Then you're not changing anything.

As long as your first aid trained you can deal out phys. Thats what I was told anyway.

Red and Yellow cards was a myth, never actually got used.
Dishing out physical punishment - you are supposed to be trained to do this, I hear that there may be a system which invovles cards being signed off by gym staff (as you can't make them do too much in one day, etc)
I remember PT (early 80s) on a daily basis (including an exam which involved marking time by running and stamping, climbing ropes, vaulting, etc). Also the assault course which still attracts injuries from people who fall off. Various punishment runs, mainly at night and involving waving a torch at the SRs Mess to prove we were there (and setting off an intruder alarm when it transpired that our Instructor was not really there but at home and the MOD Policeman thought we were terrorists signalling to team members!). Doubling everywhere. We all lost loads of weight, always seemed to be a Stores changing for smaller kit. I don't think it was that hard though, but I was a County rugby player at the time....we certainly didn't have many people who couldn't take the strain.http://www.rpoints.com/?ruid=103933

Having been excused ET1 on joining, enlighten me what is NAMET?i under stood it to be naval airman educational test,am i wrong?

NAMET is the naval maths and english test.
Used to be that an "O" level got you a grade zero and went in descending order from there, used to be that you needed at least a 7 to stay in the mob, certain tech trades needed to be minumum of a 5 to start continuation training. I think a 3 was about average.
Have heard that these days some have joined with 9 or less???
Honestly, that is a dangerously low score, most humans could not attain such a low score even if they deliberately tried to. Unfortunately as they are not exactly banging down the gates to get into the mob these days, this is a sign of the times..

Beat me to it. I heard they'd extended the NAMET range to 20 to allow for the range of modern entrants. That may be a myth of course, but I have heard first hand of people who can't spell their own surname, and others having to put an X at the end of a witness statement.

That's the Regulators. Sorry "Service Policemen." When they can teach them how to read, we are all going to be in serious trouble. Not that I'm holding my breath....
