Some of the more hardcore Haredim, especially some Hasidic or Yeshiva groups reject secularism and will generally try to avoid communication with with those who adhere to what they see as deviant forms of Judaism. They have a similar but more entrenched attitude to non Jewish people. You'd be shocked and dismayed by what they think of goyish (non Jewish) people but, they feel, their opinions and attitudes are progressively being vindicated in the modern age.

No, the OP wrote about this happening last week. The similar occurrence two years ago was brought up by me (in an attempt to show that the OP was not just making it all up). The specific dates when I saw this group were 15-22 Aug 2009.

Er, my interpretation of the OP was that it took place 2 years ago - there was no sign of the "gathering" two days later but his wife has often commented on it and wondered what it was all about...

Two years ago we went to our usual walk from Ullswater every thing was glorious...
Not that it is particularly relevant to the price of fish (or anything else for that matter BUT SF1939 - would you care to clarify?
... of course I could be wrong; I was once ... when I said I could be wrong!

I'm confused. The first post on this thread appears to be by seafarer1939 who definitely refers to events 2 years ago. Your first contribution appears as post 16. Help me here, am I going mad? <or should that be more mad?>

You're right. Not for the first time this week have I been wrong, but in my defence, where he wrote 'Two years ago' the word 'days' appears directly below, and I read the line as 'Two days ago'. Does anyone know where I can find a Specsavers in Guz?

If they were driving, its unlikely they were going to pray tashlich, most people do that on the actual day of Rosh Hashanna (jewish new year), when you cant drive or do most other forms of work. Rosh Hashanna lasts two days so even if one were Saturday, the other would not be. They might have just been on a group holiday. Going on a holiday in groups is more convenient for Orthodox Jews as you need a group of ten men to pray the full services each day, and it makes organising food etc. easier.

I had hoped this would be a thread about Jews in the Royal Navy, ah well.
