It was explained to me (by an RN Cdo Medic whos maybe heading there soon) that its a power play by the RM to keep 3Cdo brigade from being disbanded and keep it part of the RN.
Cant send it to the army, it does all the navies Ship stuff! And cant disband it they guard the detearrant...

05-04-12, 18:29 #22Very true only time will tell, The Bods at the top of the pile (within the Corps) are fairly keen on the RM being around for a long while yet, so throwing the gauntlet down at the "bean counters" would not be their main aim. Besides would the bean counters not have to approve the formation of any new units/regiments etc?

05-04-12, 18:46 #24This is true, however if you look at it from your average Strawberry/ Lad /Lass wanting to join up, the news keeps showing cut backs this cut backs that....Navy, Army, Raf to loose XYZ etc. But RM new Unit if you get my drift must be high value to the Gov if they can expand even if it is smoke and mirrors.
However everything I have said in this is purely my own opinion. And therefore I expect complete shite and someone will be along shortly to explain why it is.
