Re: Why did you join up?
Comments well stated - a sign of an old and wise 'sea daddy' is to bring on the youngsters not de-cry them, for they not he is the future - that is the sign of a true Vet. There is no such thing as a Sprog - just a good grounding for good NCOs of the future (they are always needed) - those who ill treat a novice always fall by the wayside - those are the signs of great leadership either that I must have missed the point for 23 years!

Re: Why did you join up?
The reason I'm joining is because I was aproached by a MOD official who told me that they needed my services in the SBS. As soon as I pass Marine training I'm going straight for SBS.
Aparantly the ministry oif defence have been keeping an eye on me for some time as I fit the profile of what they term to be a "modern day super soldier".

Anyway, he's only just discovered that I've joined, and even he asked "what's the Royal Marine Reserves?", which I was very surprised at.
But.......
I joined simply because I became addicted once I became aware.
Thats just the way I am.
Becoming a Royal means absolutely everything to me now (seriously).
For me, it's the ultimate acheivement. All evil needs to succeed, is that good men do nothing.

Wind yer neck in Perc, yer getting boring now. Probably some fat knacker from som Fish n' Chip Regt on a wind up. Mate, the only SBS you'll be getting is Surprise Bum Sex, with a 4 cell mag light, when some hairy arsed Bootneck catches up with you. Cnut.

Re: Why did you join up?
You're wrong. When I first went into the Recruiting Office, the recruiting sergeant stopped and looked into my eyes and said "I can see it in your eyes that you are a born killer, this is what you are meant to do".
The thing is, I crave action and danger and violence. I crave the afventure that only war can bring. I cannot just sit in an office doing paper work because i am a man of action ... a natural born killer.

I think Spartan would be best suited as an all-round gimp. Dependable in times of man love.
The only intuitive interface is the nipple, everything else is learned.
