I posted this back in August in Lil's.
It would have been a better investment than Gold or Property!!!
W.T.F. I have just seen a copy of the Red Sailor, Patrick O'Hara's 1963 book, on Abe books, going for £430 and one tattered copy sold for £220 on e-bay.
    I think I bought a copy for 7/6d, 37p in 1966.
    If only!!!!!
I will see you all when I get back on board around Christmas time,I know this as I overheard the Skipper say,It will be a long dark night before he comes back on board this ship!!!!

I have an original copy of this book which I bought for my father a couple of years ago. I bought it off eBay. Would be willing to sell on for a reasonable price.

You must be off your tits to make an offer like that. Unless you think £250 plus is a reasonable price, of course.

One battered RN baccy tin (Empty), a set of dolphins, a classic right angled torch (British green with pussers batteries included and spare lamps), a canvas kitbag and pussers suitcase.

    Deal?

Update re Red Sailor,,,,,I emailed the Publishers on the 4th Oct. asking if there were any plans for a re print of the book, no reply to date so I repeated the email yesterday and asked them to acknowledge receipt, I'm not holding my breath. Next plan is to see if I can track down and email address for the author. I'll post any updates that I get.

for info, there are 3 copies in the British Library in London. I have tried to request loan through my local library and they will not release it. I plan to go to Smoke to spend a day copy typing this (which I am told I am allowed to do, but not photograph it).
Anyone fancy a read when I type this little gem?

Tom, it may be the only way we will ever get to read it, I've had no response to my emails to the publishers and cannot track down contact details for the author, I'd be interested in reading it obviously
