Yes, yes, the question was obviously about the RN. My point is that Merchant Seamen (including those in the RFA) get paid tax-free; it is therefore not an illogical extension to think that the same may be true of the RN. Furthermore, our Septic cousins do not pay tax when they deploy, so again, it is not stupid to ask if our forces do.
One question to you, exactly how much did you know about tax and NI before you joined up? Not much, I bet.
Regardless, I would never ask a question like this.
'Once you are in the Royal Navy and receiving a monthly salary, do you pay tax and N.I.? '

'Once you are in the Royal Navy and receiving a monthly salary, do you pay tax and N.I.? '
Why wouldn't you?
Is it because you are all-knowing about matters relating to tax and NI, or is it because you know so little about them that you just accept the current situation that you are in as being the norm.
Honestly, did you know about the tax breaks that the Merch and the RFA get?
Did you know about the tax breaks that other countries' armed forces get?
If the answer to either of these is no, then you are not in an informed enough position to pass comment on the validity of the original question.
If the answer to either of these is yes, then you should have realised that the fundamental basis for this question is not flawed, making it a reasonable question.
Either way, you are a prick.

No it is not, no matter how you attempt to explain it away and why do you feel it necessary to insult people.

Yes it is, and the fact that you cannot see, or simply refuse to acknowledge that does not alter this.
So you think everyone in the country should pay tax and NI apart from the forces.
So you think everyone in the country actually does pay tax and NI?
As for the insults, I see them as warranted, as a new poster was asking what I see as a reasonable question in an appropriate forum, and you chose to have some fun at his expense. What do you think that makes you? King RumRat? Forum Top Boy?
My choice is prick.

Agreed... it was only a harmless wind up. Even if he went away thinking that he'd got the word from the horses mouth he would never have gotten far enough with it for it to cause him any real pain.
In all honesty, I never even considered the gender of Oh So Kesky, but if it is a she, and feels the need to give herself a name like that, and if the 'crumpet' on here is anything to go by, I would have to make my excuses and leave.

I am NOT a "crumpet"
2) I am NOT a female
3) My username is a play on words to do with Arsenal's captain (not that I get any of you fassies to understand)
4) Joe understands why I asked this question rather than some cock get his kicks from being a smart arse.

...calm down, chaps, calm down.
Bone question or Reasonable question? Depends where you are sitting & how the mood takes.
OP got his answers (a la RR style), fun was had, no horses were frightened nor any blood spilt.
Think mischievous
and just chill

After I joined I told a couple of mates that we didn't pay tax. One of them still thought it 22-years later!
