Ignore monty's silly posts, way off target. Look at what aircraft the RN has, their technical details, purposes, what ships & bases you would find them on, and then send me a photo and your address.

When you see an aircraft belting along the runway, what makes it lift off?

Ditto with helicopters. What effect are the rotors having when they spin?

Just for the sake of completeness, how does a plane take off vertically e.g a Harrier Jump Jet?
