I need to sort a sunday-sunday stay in San Francisco this month, around the Santa Clara area. Any one know of a REALLY cheap hotel (just above ghetto knocking-shop on the quality/price scale)?

If so would you mind PM'ing me with your suggestions? Any offers of private accomodation will be flatly refused becuase most of you Yanks and ex-pats are murderous, dog-bumming alco's.

Can't help with the local knowledge, but there's a web-site that a number of my colleagues use that gives good last minute rates; www.hotwire.com/ . Having done a quick search on Santa Clara hotels on this site, you can get rates as low as $39 per night.
